New qualifications in Professional Consulting

Launched this Autumn, Elevation Learning is proud to announce their new suite of courses

The Chartered Management Institute and Institute of Consulting has launched qualifications in Professional Consulting that are recognised under the UK Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF) administered by Ofqual.

For the first time, therefore, there are now qualifications for consultants that are recognised nationally and (through the European Qualifications Framework) internationally.

The new qualifications are at levels 5 and 7 on the QCF. Qualifications at level 5 are deemed to be about the level of foundation degrees and higher national diplomas while those at level 7 equate to masters degrees and postgraduate certificates and diplomas.

The new qualifications are based on a credit accumulation framework: you get credits through successfully completing units at a particular level, each of which attracts a given number of credits. One credit represents ten notional hours of learning, showing how much time the average learner would take to complete the unit or qualification.

There are three types of qualification: Awards; Certificates; and Diplomas. The number of credits needed at each level is shown in the figure.

Also shown is the number of units you would need to get each type of qualification. At both levels, one unit can lead to an Award and an additional unit can lead to a Certificate. At Level 5 you would need to take a further four units to get a Diploma, while at Level 7 you would need five more.

As an Approved Centre, Elevation Learning is eligible to offer these qualifications.
