A new prospective client calls you up

"We need someone to work with us on a critical project. It needs to be done yesterday! So could you start tomorrow?"

Bear in mind that clients learn from our responses. What are you signalling if you say yes? You have nothing else on? You are responsive and flexible? Consider what you will have "trained" the client to expect in future and how they will value you on the basis of how you respond.
