Introduction to consulting essentials £395+VAT

Many people are put into a consultancy role, although they may not be career management consultants. This course provides a rapid and intensive introduction for those who want an appreciation of the key skills needed and some of the fundamental tools and techniques that are the ingredients of success.

This course is for newcomers to a job in consultancy; for internal consultants; for internal service providers, such as IT and HR who as business partners need to operate as consultants, and for technical specialists, such as engineers, who are working in a client environment..

By the end of this course you should:

1. Know what key skills are needed for a consultant, profile yourself and be able to prepare for professional personal development as a consultant
2. Understand the nature of consulting and the consulting process. Understand the key elements of a consulting project; the pitfalls and how to avoid them
3. Know how to work effectively in a client environment, managing good relationships with your clients and communicating effectively with them

• (Before the course) develop your own consulting skills profile and identify the areas for development
• The world of consultancy: key concepts. Working effectively in a professional/client relationship
• Introduction to our CONSULT process for delivering consulting engagements; key skills needed at each stage
• Tools and techniques useful in handling client relationships
• Communicating effectively with clients

In the long term this course is to be delivered primarily through distance learning, but this summer we are offering it as a a one-day intensive seminar covering the essentials.

For an additional fee, participants can proceed to an Award in Professional Consulting at Level 5. The additional fee of £600+VAT covers registration with the Institute of Consulting, an additional distance learning module and assement.
